LIGHTNESS OF BEING
“The color white represents purity, light, and wholeness,” says Nicole Land of Soil & Stem. She says the traditional wedding hue creates an effortless, calming, and luminous aesthetic on your big day. When designing all-white flowers like this overgrown arrangement and blooming bouquet featuring peonies, Canterbury Bells, ranunculus, euphorbia, and hellebores, she picks a focal flower with many layers of depth (such as the peonies). “The density in these flowers prevents the bouquet from appearing flat or washed out in photographs,” she explains. She then selects secondary blooms that add interest and texture, and ties off the stems with trailing ribbon to add movement.

SHINE BRIGHT
The perfect partner for a clutch of blanc blooms? Foliage and greenery, as showcased in this bouquet by Lizy Bowden of Lizy Bowden Floral Design. The arrangement features delicate stems including White Cloud garden roses, Japanese ranunculus, hellebores, lisianthus, sweet pea, and bell eucalyptus. “I love an all white bouquet,” says Bowden. “It’s classic and timeless and pairs beautifully with any dress.” Case in point: this fresh white frock and sparkling silver after-party dress.

As a floral veteran of the wedding industry, Shelly Huynh has arranged her fair share of beautiful white blooms at her oasis in the city, Orchid Dynasty (orchiddynasty.com, @orchiddynasty), located in Salt Lake’s 9th & 9th neighborhood. Here, her orchid-dripping take on the traditional cascade bouquet is a modern classic: the cascading waterfall includes Phalaenopsis, mini pendulous Cymbidiums, and Cattleya blooms mixed with greenhouse cuttings of Begonias, ferns, and Dendrobium roots. The stems pair perfectly with a classically beautiful gown featuring contemporary touches like sheer lace accents and an open back.

FRESH WHITES
“Brides are continually drawn to white bouquets and their timeless beauty,” says Ashley Beyer of Tinge Floral. But it’s not all about bright whites: shades of cream, taupe, beige, and sand are popular in bridal fashion, and Beyer’s neutral bouquet is a naturally beautiful complement to a flesh-tone frock. “This bouquet was inspired by Utah’s muted desert landscape with foraged snowberry and grasses as its structural base,” she explains. Instead of dark or sage greens, she chose the wintery snowberry, which she also used in the coordinating hair piece. Other ingredients in the organic arrangement include autumn eucalyptus, tallow berries, peonies, and white nerine lilys and ranunculus.
